When a school email arrives, Bubsby tries to figure out which child it's for. Here's how.

What this does

  • Reads the sender, subject, and content for clues about which child is involved.
  • Matches against the children, schools, and grades you've set up.
  • Suggests a child on the email card — you can adjust before confirming.

When to use this

  • You've set up your children and connected an email source.
  • A school email arrives and you want to see how Bubsby decided.

How it works

Bubsby looks for clues in this order:

  1. Direct mention — the child's name in the email.
  2. Grade + school — "Year 3" plus the school's name.
  3. Sender's school — sender or domain matches a school you set up.
  4. Grade range — "Years 1–3" matches a child in Year 2.
  5. Fuzzy name — nickname or partial spelling.
  6. Context — themes like "sports" or "music" plus grade.

Strongest match wins. It shows on the email card with the child's avatar.

Important things to know

  • It's a suggestion — change it before confirming if needed.
  • Multiple matches show multiple avatars.
  • No match? Pick a child manually on the review screen.

Common questions

  • Wrong child? Change it in the review screen — Bubsby learns over time.
  • Can I assign senders to children? Not yet directly, but adjusting matches helps.
